Eating Alabama food blog. Food posts about southern food and the food we encounter in our travels. We aren’t food critics but we’ll do our best to talk about the entire experience.

The Ranch House Breakfast

I know that the Makarios Ranch House in Hoover, Alabama doesn’t only serve breakfast. I hear that their lunch and dinner is good as well. You’ll find Greek cuisine and Mediterranean food on their menu. We brought the kids to the Ranch House for breakfast on Sundays when they were in elementary school and middle school so naturally, it’s now our breakfast place that’s closest to our house. BUT I just took a little peek at their menu on their website and yea… we HAVE to go for lunch/dinner.

I went with my daughter to all of her doctor visits and we would head over to the Ranch House for breakfast after her appointments. We got out of the routine as she was further along in her pregnancy. Which made me sad.

The restaurant sits right off of Columbiana Road in Hoover. Closer to Hwy 31. It’s an older restaurant that has been there for as long as I can remember. The inside of the restaurant is as close to a diner feel than anywhere else I’ve been… at least in Hoover. The kitchen is semi-open to the dining room. There’s a mix of booths and tables. I love the fact that it’s a meeting place for retired friends.

Noelle is my waffle girlie. She ordered the same thing every time! I ordered the sausage patties because for some odd reason I’m not loving bacon as much as I used to. I order cheese grits as well and the fact that they add a slice of American cheese is so nostalgic. Mainly because that’s how I would make my cheese grits at home.

I never forget my mug of coffee with a bit of sugar and half and half. Noelle always wanted a big glass of chocolate milk! Nothing fancy - just good breakfast and coffee.
