Eating Alabama food blog. Food posts about southern food and the food we encounter in our travels. We aren’t food critics but we’ll do our best to talk about the entire experience.

Found: Best Burger

Yep… I said it. I found the best burger I’ve had in quite a while. I hesitate to say this is the best burger in Alabama since obviously, we haven’t had all of the burgers Alabama has to offer. But we’re willing to try them all. I’m trying to convince Nick to get a nice RV so we can travel the state and blog. Not sure if I’ve convinced him yet.

Where is this burger? It’s the VY Burger at Vintage Year in Montgomery, Alabama.

I mean… really… look at it! We heard a few people rave about the burger so naturally, we had to order it. If you love burgers, you should head over on Tuesdays - they have a special burger menu available on Tuesdays. This one is the VY Burger and it’s on the burger menu AND their regular menu - it’s available all the time. If I lived in Montgomery, I would visit them every time a burger craving hit.

The VY Burger is an 8oz Alabama Wagyu patty, peppered bacon, white cheddar, lettuce, onion, and tomato on a brioche bun. The burger also had homemade pickles on the side - definitely add them to the hamburger! I asked our waitress if she could find out where the Wagyu came from. She asked the chef and found that it came from a farm in Selma, Alabama. If you know the name of the farm, let us know! I ordered the sweet potato fries as a side because if there’s a choice, I’ll pick sweet potato fries. They’re elite - but only to me because the rest of the family likes regular, basic, fries.

I ordered the burger medium, and it was perfect! I don’t even know if there were condiments on the burger. If not, then I didn’t add any because wow, the flavor of the beef was incredible. Now my predicament will be wanting to order the burger when we go back down to dine. I’ll want to try other items on the menu, but that burger will be calling out to me.

ANOTHER NOTE: Vintage Year is such a romantic restaurant. The windows in front of the restaurant gives you a little peek into the interior space - warm lighting, beautifully decorated, and intimate seating. We sat outside on the patio underneath strings of white light.

Go treat yourself! Make a reservation to dine at Vintage Year soon.
